Well, this is unexpected. A call purporting to be in reference to my dad’s medical bills, seeking to contact his estate. Being a smart cookie, I referred him to the attorney who is handling probate, then promptly called an aunt and cried a bit, asking her to talk me down. She did such a great job of talking me through the trials of Dad’s illness and death that I turned to her naturally at this point. We had a good talk, and she had some great suggestions, including asking the physician’s office whether they had indeed given my contact information to their billing agency. I’ve notified all relevant parties and am awaiting calls back.
Meanwhile, I have left renewing my passport later than I should have done, which means I will be trekking into Boston next week to take care of expedited renewal.
And I continue to mark student work, dragging towards closing down the tasks of the teaching semester and preparing to return attention to research and writing.
